Dear Resident,

Now in existence for well over 5 years, the Fayette County Technical Rescue Team continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings in the entire mid-south area.  Our local Team is an all VOLUNTEER Special Operations Rescue Squadthat employs the use of specialized equipment and technical rescue skills for emergency events that are “outside the norm” of a typical emergency call for our local fire departments and other local emergency response agencies.  We respond, when requested by local emergency response agencies, to most of West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and East Arkansas.  Since our inception in 2010, we have completed dozens of activations, deployments, and operational readiness exercises from Dyersburg, Tennessee to Byhalia, Mississippi and everywhere in between.  In addition, we work regularly with local emergency response agencies such as the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department   K-9 Unit and provide our services all across the mid-south region.  Moreover, our Team believes in community outreach, community education, and assisting the citizens and local emergency response agencies in our area.  To that end, our Team is heavily involved in various free community outreach and first responder education programs such as free CPR classes, free emergency vehicle operator courses, free vehicle extrication classes, and more.

The mission of the FCTRT is to provide high quality technical rescue assistance to mid-south emergency responders during emergencies utilizing the most appropriate resources available and to provide applicable training and education to the Team’s members; other mid-south emergency responders; and the public at large. The purpose of our Team is to provide a nucleus of highly trained special rescue personnel to deal with the different types of situations that the Team is prepared to respond to. We are the ONLY sanctioned volunteer rescue squad in this area that is solely dedicated to technical rescue.

Our Team is a private and sanctioned technical rescue squad that provides assistance without charge to the entire mid-south area and is compromised of experienced, highly trained, and skilled volunteers from various emergency response agencies and departments (many of which are professionally employed in the emergency services field) as well as the private sector.  As stated above, our membership is entirely volunteer.  Qualified and experienced emergency volunteers don’t only save lives and help our community, they save tax dollars through their volunteer efforts.

In order to meet our mission and provide volunteer services all across the mid-south area, we rely upon the generosity of local individuals and businesses for support.  Without the assistance of community-minded individuals just like you, we wouldn’t be able to serve those in the mid-south each and every year.

Your generosity will make a difference in the mid-south community by allowing us to continue our work.  As you may already know, the FCTRT is solely funded through sponsors, donations and private grants.  Our Team does NOT receive any federal, state, county or municipal government fundingand pays for its own general liability insurance as well as workers compensation insurance on its members, so that it can be available to respond virtually anytime to anywhere it may be needed WITHOUT any cost to the taxpayers of our area.

The FCTRT is an Active Unit Member of the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads and has formed alliances with Search Dogs South and the Kelsey Canine Medical Center and holds active Team memberships with the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR), the International Association for Dive Rescue Specialists (IADRS), the International Rescue and Emergency Care Association (IRECA), and the Mid-South Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters).

All of the money raised is specifically spent to help the mid-south community through our services and all contributions are TAX DEDUCTIBLE as allowed by law as our Team is a tax exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING A DONATION TO OUR TEAM and all checks can be mailed to our headquarters at 3565 Highway 57, Rossville, Tennessee 38066.  Please remember that every tax deductible donation makes a difference, regardless of size.
