FCTRT Unveils Extrication Support Vehicle

The Fayette County Technical Rescue Team recently unveiled their extrication support vehicle.  The modified Ford F-350 is designed to not only pull the Team’s main equipment trailer, watercraft, and ATV’s but also to assist emergency responders at extrication incidents with supplemental supplies and materials specifically for vehicle extrication.  The vehicle is not only equipped with the new Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads minimum requirements for cribbing but also contains numerous other items including large cribbing for tractor trailer incidents, farm jacks, heavy duty ratchet straps, ground spikes, and other items.  The truck contains over 175 items to assist emergency responders at extrication incidents such as:

10 pieces of various sizes of step cribbing (with 2 for tractor trailers)

                        60 pieces of 4” x 4” x 18” cribbing

                        28 pieces of 6” x 6” x 18” heavy duty cribbing

                        30 pieces of 4” x 4” x 18” wedges

8 pieces of miscellaneous size wedges

                        15 pieces of 2” x 4” x 18” cribbing

                        4 pieces of 2” x 6” x 18” cribbing

                        4 pieces of 4” x 4” x 8’ cribbing

                        4 pieces of 2’ x 2’ x 1” ground pads (including 2 made for farm jacks)

                        Miscellaneous other equipment and items

The FCTRT believes that having a “rapid response” vehicle available to immediately supplement extrication incidents will not only allow the Team to assist local emergency response agencies in a much broader capacity but will enable the certified extrication instructors on the Team to deliver a better learning environment for the extrication classes that FCTRT completes for local emergency response agencies.
