FCTRT Promotes Technical Rescue at Four Events

The Fayette County Technical Rescue Team recently completed a very long Saturday by being invited to and attending four separate events in a single day.  From Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Walls, Mississippi the Team divided into multiple squads to introduce themselves across the area.

The first squad attended the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads (TARS) annual convention in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.  This squad was able to attend meetings, workshops, and interact with other rescue squads from across the State of Tennessee.

The second squad, in conjunction with the Rossville Fire Department, attended the Rossville Historic Commission Tour of Homes in Rossville, Tennessee.  This squad was able to interact with residents from across the mid-south area.

The third squad attended both the Fall Festival hosted by the Minor Memorial United Methodist Church in Walls, Mississippi and also Southaven Fire Department’s 2nd Annual Fire and Life Safety Day in Southaven, Mississippi.  This squad was able to interact with not only residents from across the mid-south area but also able to interact with the various emergency response agencies that attended both of these events.

“Since our Team is available to respond in most of Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas, we have a lot of ground to cover and it is critically important for our Team to not only interact with the other emergency response agencies in this area but also to introduce ourselves to the citizens who live there,” said Commander Kevin Snider.  “Being a private, non-profit, and sanctioned rescue squad that has the unique capability of being able to respond to wherever we may be asked to help is something that our all volunteer Team takes very seriously,” said Snider.

The Fayette County Technical Rescue Team is an Active Unit Member of the Tennessee Association of Rescue Squads and affiliated with the Rossville Fire Department, Search Dogs South, and the Kelsey Canine Medical Center and holds memberships with the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR), the International Association for Dive Rescue Specialists (IADRS), and the International Rescue and Emergency Care Association (IRECA).  The Team is a private, non-profit, and sanctioned rescue squad that provides specialized emergency response to fire departments, police departments, and agencies requesting additional assistance without charge and is comprised of 31 volunteers from various emergency response agencies and departments.  If you are interested in joining, assisting, or just looking for more information about the Team, please visit their website at www.technicalrescueteam.com or call them at (901) 496-6800.
